Become a marine scientist for a week!

Take part in the Baltic Sea Science Camp!

Are you interested in science? Do you love the sea? Then get familiar with what marine science is all about!

Experience what it feels like to work in an international team, taking samples and analysing them, and trying to find answers to relevant questions. Apply for the Baltic Sea Science Camp 2012. Participation is free of cost.

When and Where will the Science Camp take place?

Dates: 17 - 26 August 2012
Location:Lithuania, Smiltynė on the Curonian Spit

Who may take part and how can I apply?

  • 25 school students between 15 and 19 years old from Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, and Germany interested in marine science and skilled in English.
  • Five school teachers from the countries listed who teach science classes at secondary schools and are skilled in English.

22 May 2012
Application forms and further details here:

  • Download the application documents for students.
  • Fill in the application form.
  • Ask a science teacher to write a letter of reference or, alternatively, ask the scientist of the marine institution in your country (listed in the application form) for an interview.
  • Ask your school to fill in and sign the letter of agreement.
  • Ask your parents to fill in and sign the letter of agreement.
  • Double-check using the check list for students.
  • Send all the documents to the contact address offered below before 22 May 2012!
  • In case you need some more time to collect all the required application documents, please announce to us, Marija or Rasa from Lithuania, that you are interested in taking part and make sure your documents reach us by May 22nd the latest. It is quickest if you send the documents as attachments by mail.


If you are a school teacher from one of the countries listed above, who teaches science classes at secondary schools, and if you are skilled in English and willing to work in an international group, your application is highly appreciated! Please, fill in the teachers' application form, and send it in before 22 May 2012!
